West End Trading Co. first opened its doors on September 29, 2006, marking the City of Sanford's birthday in style. From the beginning, we set out to create more than just a place to grab a drink. We wanted to build a home for the community, a place where memories are made, music fills the air, and friends gather to share good times.
The Evolution: From Dive Bar to Iconic Venue
What started as a cozy local dive bar quickly became a fixture of Sanford’s Historic Downtown. Our journey saw the rise of West End Live, a professional live music venue where top local and national acts have graced our stage. Over the years, we've expanded our offerings, creating a dynamic space where both the old and new Sanford come together.
The First Hurricane Party & The Sand Flooring
In June 2007, we hosted our very first Hurricane Party, a staple event that would go on to define West End Trading Co.’s reputation for epic nights. To make the party even more memorable, we decided to cover the floor with sand, giving it a true beach-party feel. However, the clean-up after the event was no small task—so much work that we left the sand in place for two full years! It became a quirky, nostalgic part of our story that guests still fondly remember.

Fishbowl Stage
In 2010, we made our mark with the creation of the Fishbowl Stage, a symbol of our commitment to live music and community entertainment. From intimate acoustic sets to high-energy performances, our Fishbowl Stage has hosted legendary acts and countless unforgettable nights.

Beyond the music, West End Trading Co. became known for its signature drinks, including the iconic Sunshine State Bomb, and our unbeatable Happy Hour. Our space has hosted some of Sanford’s favorite events, from the legendary Hurricane Party Concerts to local community gatherings, making us a hub for both fun and philanthropy. As we continue to celebrate over 18 years of service, we remain as committed as ever to being a home for the community and a venue that brings people together. We’re excited for the future as we continue to grow, collaborate, and entertain Sanford’s best and brightest. Over the years, we've hosted iconic events like the Hurricane Party Concert, built the legendary Fishbowl Stage, and created our signature drink, the Sunshine State Bomb, enjoyed by over a million guests. Our growth and success have always been intertwined with the community around us. We've worked hard to forge strong partnerships with local organizations and to host charity events that support causes like youth education, animal welfare, and the arts.
